President's Spotlight video transcript (September 2025)
Hello from our annual Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum! I am Dr. Natalia Rost, your President of the AAN.
September is an especially exciting time of year for us, as the AAN leads a multi-disciplinary coalition of stakeholders in the evolving field of brain health through our annual Brain Health Summit. Now in its fourth year, this event helps us break siloes and link arms across the house of medicine, patient organizations, government agencies, and beyond, to better serve our patients and the public.
Our signature program of the AAN Brain Health Initiative, the summit is a unique opportunity to gather these groups of stakeholders, having critical conversations, and laying the groundwork for future brain health science and advocacy. The theme for 2025 is “Empowering Communities.”
This year, in the spirit of the AAN’s commitment to a multidisciplinary approach, we’re excited to welcome leaders from across the house of medicine. We’ll be joined by representatives from the Council of Medical Specialty Societies, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Academy of Pediatrics for a dynamic panel discussion on how we can lead together in advancing brain health.
And together, we will do what the AAN always does best—convene the most impactful stakeholders in the same space and lead the creative process of imagining how each of their areas would contribute to this brain health revolution that we’ve embarked upon.
I am also excited to share that our impact speaker from the Angelman Syndrome Foundation will present the unique perspective of a caretaker and a leader in rare disease resources and research. This is going to be another highly inspiring event—and we look forward to sharing the proceedings with all of you at AAN.com/BrainHealthSummit.
Of course, that’s only part of our work to advance brain health for all. September also marks the AAN Legislative Summit, an essential opportunity to advance our advocacy goals. We and our thousands of member advocates are committed to amplifying your voice—and the voices of your patients—on Capitol Hill and beyond.
Thank you—let’s continue to strive together for the future of brain health for all. And let’s get to work!
