About
This award recognizes a private practice neurologist for their volunteer service to patients, organizations, and/or the community. All areas that involve service (Habitat for Humanity, international work, etc.), in which the applicant has invested their personal time will be considered.

- Applications close: October 21, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CT
Benefits
The award recipient will receive a $1,000 prize, an honorary plaque, and recognition at the Annual Meeting and in AAN member publications.
Eligibility
This award honors a neurologist working in a private practice.
Applicants must attest that they meet the AAN definition of “private practice,” which is considered a “practice in which the physician(s) own a contractual, controlling, or substantial financial interest in the practice’s success or failure.”
Whether self-nominating or nominating someone else, each application should include:
- The completed application form, which includes a statement of interest (500-word limit).
- A current curriculum vitae.
Preference will be given to applicants who have not won an AAN award within the last five years.
