Increasing drug prices for specialty medications used to treat neurodegenerative diseases continue to remain a high priority for neurologists, patients, and the 好色先生. Transparency in prescription drug pricing along the drug distribution chain in the US is often poorly understood. This includes how drugs are initially priced by the manufacturer, what prices are then paid by insurers, whether these drug prices provide a cost benefit value, and, ultimately, how these prices impact access for patients. Through presentations from a former pharmaceutical industry representative, senior vice president of the Institute of Clinical and Economic Review (ICER), chief clinical officer of a national health insurance company, and a general neurologist, faculty will facilitate an understanding and transparency of how drug prices are determined in the US. Participants will learn about components of drug pricing and the factors that influence its determination at various stages in the US drug distribution channel by a variety of stakeholders.
