Established over 30 years ago, the AAN Research Program has flourished into one of the world’s leading sources of neurology research grants for young neurologists and beyond, owing much of its success to the exceptional pool of talented researchers within our AAN community.

Despite this growth, the demand for neuroscience research funding is greater than ever. This fall alone, we received nearly 300 applications for AAN research grants. Unfortunately, only a limited number received funding, leaving many promising projects without the necessary resources to move forward. It is a reality that weighs heavily on all of us committed to advancing neuroscience.

Our researchers need more support.

Because of this, we are expanding our fundraising efforts for research grants. Our strategic plan calls directly for promoting neuroscience research. Aligned with that, this new initiative aims to boost philanthropic giving and generate new streams of revenue, empowering us to directly fund more neuroscience research, drive innovative breakthroughs, and facilitate neurological cures.

This is where we need your help to support the future of neuroscience research.

Please contribute to the AAN Research Program through the AAN Institute, our 501(c)(3) charity, as we launch a campaign to maintain our status as a leading research funding source for our neurological community and expand our role in directly funding neuroscience research grants.

We will continue our valued collaborations with other organizations, including the American Brain Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the ALS Association, which have played a crucial role in supporting many of our research grants. While these collaborations remain essential, the need to expand funding opportunities is clear.

Many of today’s leading clinician-scientists got their career start with the support and transformative power of the AAN Research Program. But the impact extends far beyond individual recipients. It strengthens the entire neurology community and advances science that improves patient outcomes.

There has never been a more critical time for neuroscience research, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to propel the field forward. Together, and with your generous support, this mission becomes possible.
