Cognitive Neurology/Neurologic Disorders Presenting with Psychiatric Symptoms, Trauma
Participants should be familiar with the variety of mechanisms and pathophysiologic events associated with TBI and how to treat and minimize secondary brain injury with up-to-date acute management procedures; learn about the latest neuroimaging techniques and research to characterize the effects of diffuse/multifocal damage after TBI; be aware of the natural history of cognitive recovery, neurochemical changes after TBI, and how pharmacologic agents may be beneficial or detrimental to cognitive recovery; understand the definition, diagnosis, and treatment of mild TBI and how to distinguish the effects of TBI from other diagnoses that may mimic the problems attributed to mild TBI.
