Learning Objectives Upon completion participants should be able to identify behavioral disturbances in dementia patients; apply appropriate pharmacological management when indicated to improve quality of life, to minimize patient and caregiver distress and to assure safety; apply behavioral modification techniques when appropriate; decrease polypharmacy that can compromise dementia care; delay nursing home placement with appropriate management of behavioral disturbances.
