Learn Latest Advances in Brain Diseases and How to Keep a Healthy Brain

***MEDIA ALERT*** What: Brain Health Fair When: Saturday, April 26, 2014, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Location: Pennsylvania Convention Center, Philadelphia, PA Register Now: Free Registration Now Open at Patients, families, and caregivers affected by brain diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, stroke, Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, headache, multiple sclerosis, child development, peripheral neuropathy and other types of brain disease, are invited to register for free now to attend the Brain Health Fair, Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA. Free registration is now open at . The Brain Health Fair is a free, exciting day of activities connecting thousands of families, patients, caregivers, and other members of the general public with neurologists and other important resources and information to bring awareness to brain diseases. The Brain Health Fair is hosted by the American Brain Foundation, the foundation for the , which is bringing more than 12,000 neurologists and health care professionals to Philadelphia for its Annual Meeting, the world鈥檚 largest gathering of neurologists. 鈥淭his is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Philadelphia community to learn from some of the best and brightest neurologists in the world who will teach free classes and share the latest advances in the prevention and treatment of brain diseases as well as ways for people to maintain a healthy brain,鈥 said Dr. Brenda Banwell, Chief, Division of Neurology, Children鈥檚 Hospital of Philadelphia. Attendees can visit any one鈥攐r all鈥攐f the Brain Health Fair鈥檚 鈥渘eighborhoods鈥 to learn and enjoy free Brain Health classes taught by neurologists, an exhibit hall, activities for kids and teens, music performances, cooking demonstrations, giveaways, support groups, and more. Patients, caregivers, and families can learn about new tools, observe medical equipment in action, and gain awareness of the benefits of nutrition and emotional health. The Brain Health Fair will feature the following fun and informative areas:

Celebrity guest Ben Utecht, former NFL player with the Super Bowl-winning Indianapolis Colts, experienced a career-ending traumatic brain injury (TBI) in 2005 while playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. Utecht is now pursuing his other great passion as a recording artist, motivational speaker, and TBI advocate, and will be on hand to talk about his efforts in building awareness for TBI, as well as sign autographs. Musician and American Brain Foundation Ambassador Billy McLaughlin will also be at the event and performing sets throughout the day. McLaughlin was diagnosed with Focal Dystonia鈥攁n incurable neuromuscular disorder that rendered him unable to play his own music鈥攂ut in spite of his diagnosis taught himself to play his music with his opposite hand.

A Keynote Address on the Advances in Neurology, including Brain Imaging Research in Neurologic Disease and Five Bridges to the Future: AAN Neurologists Finding Tomorrow鈥檚 Treatment will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
