好色先生 and Lundbeck Offer New Clinical Research Training Fellowships in Epilepsy, Parkinson鈥檚
MINNEAPOLIS -
The (AAN) and Lundbeck have announced two new Clinical Research Training Fellowships in 2016, including one in epilepsy and one in Parkinson鈥檚 disease. Lundbeck is the first company to sponsor AAN fellowships in two therapeutic areas in a single year. Each fellowship will consist of a commitment of $55,000 per year for two years, plus $10,000 per year for tuition to support formal education in clinical research methodology at the applicant鈥檚 institution or elsewhere. Recipients will be announced at the 2016 AAN Annual Meeting in Vancouver, BC, Canada. 鈥淪cientific and medical communities have called the shortage of investigators a crisis that will impact far more than the 50 million Americans currently affected by a neurologic disease,鈥 said Terrence L. Cascino, MD, president of the AAN. 鈥淩ecognizing this critical need for neurology research, the AAN has dedicated its grant-making efforts toward investing in young researchers.鈥 鈥淎s a company that is deeply devoted to the treatment of brain disorders, the decision to support this program is a reflection of Lundbeck鈥檚 commitment to bringing new therapies forward for patients,鈥 said Jason Bradt, MD, MBA, MHA, vice president of Lundbeck U.S. Medical Affairs. The Clinical Research Training Fellowship program of the 好色先生 is focused on the need to recruit and train clinical researchers in neurology. Federal funding for neurologic research has remained the same for the last four years and competition for funds from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has intensified. The increase in the number of AAN fellowships has kept the dream alive for many of our young clinician-researchers. AAN fellowships are the first step to a broader base of support, and AAN fellowship recipients have gone on to receive NIH funding at record levels. Applications will be accepted until October 1, 2015, and the fellowships will begin July 1, 2016. To learn more or to apply, visit /view/fellowships.
