2016 Neuro Film Festival Winners Announced
MINNEAPOLIS -
The 好色先生 (AAN) is pleased to announce the winning entries to the 2016 Neuro Film Festival. The is an annual contest to help raise awareness about why more research is needed to cure brain diseases such as Alzheimer鈥檚 disease, stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson鈥檚 disease, multiple sclerosis and others. GRAND PRIZE ($1,000) and FAN FAVORITE AWARD (Online Recognition) Agusta Fanney for her moving documentary which looks into the life of Sunna Valdis, a nine-year-old girl in Reykjavik, Iceland, and other children from around the world with alternating hemiplegia of childhood (AHC), a rare neurological disorder caused by a mutation in the gene ATP1A3. RUNNER-UP PRIZE ($500) Katie Brandt for a very personal and touching account of the loss of her husband, Mike, to this vicious disease resulting in the hope of raising awareness about this rare disorder to help other families navigate the struggle of caring for a loved one with FTD. The 2016 Neuro Film Festival received 66 video entries about a variety of neurologic conditions. The collective videos received thousands of YouTube views.
