Any resident PGY-2 or higher Academy member
Must be a member in good standing
While meeting with legislators, attendees must focus only on the Academy's priorities
Although participants should have a strong commitment to improving health care, no prior knowledge of the political process is necessary.
Ineligible
Students, interns, and senior members are not eligible to apply.
Non-US residents, including the US territories Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Narrative questions
The application consists of demographic information and two essay questions:
Why do you want to attend Neurology on the Hill?
What is the most important policy issue in neurology today?
Applicant selection
After the application deadline, all applicants are reviewed and selected by the Advocacy Engagement Subcommittee. Applicants are evaluated with the objective of maximizing the number of congressional districts represented and overall class balance. Due to the high number of applications, those not selected will be added to a waitlist and will be notified if a spot opens.
The Advocacy Engagement Subcommittee considers the following during the selection process:
Unique congressional district
AAN key congressional district
Underrepresented state
NOH attendance
Involvement in AAN advocacy activity, like Action Center usage, BrainPAC support, or Neurology off the Hill involvement
Representation from diverse practice settings
High-quality answers to application essay questions
