What is Neurology on the Hill?
Neurology on the Hill (NOH) is the AAN’s premier annual advocacy event held in Washington, DC. It brings together neurologists to meet with members of Congress and advocate for federal policies that impact neurological care. Attendees join the AAN in DC for two days—a day of training and prep for meetings, then a second day spent on Capitol Hill meeting with members of Congress.
Why is Neurology on the Hill important?
Neurology on the Hill is vital for:
Raising awareness of neurology’s role in health care
Advocating for legislative priorities such as reducing regulatory burdens, improving access to care, and increasing research funding
Building lasting relationships with lawmakers and fellow advocates

How are priority issues chosen for Neurology on the Hill?
Each year, the AAN’s Advocacy Committee selects federal policies that impact neurological care. These are the issues that AAN advocates focus on while attending Neurology on the Hill. See current priority issues for more information.
Who can attend Neurology on the Hill?
Eligible participants include US-based AAN members who are neurologists or trainees, PGY-2 or higher.
Medical students, interns, and seniors are not eligible.
How can I register to attend Neurology on the Hill?

If accepted, what should I expect next?
Approximately 200 attendees are selected from the applicant pool to attend the event. Selected neurologist members pay a $150 registration fee. Members local to DC pay a $100 registration fee. Junior members pay a reduced $50 registration fee.
Travel and hotel costs are covered for non-local attendees. Registration and travel booking are managed through the AAN platform and AmTrav, a travel agency.
What happens if I can’t attend an in-person event?
You can participate in Neurology off the Hill, a summer counterpart to NOH. This program allows members to meet with legislators in their home districts and advocate for issues like telehealth and prior authorization reform.
