Facilitating Collaboration in MS Care through Point-of- care Tools and Innovation in CME
Multiple Sclerosis
P1 - Poster Session 1 (5:30 PM-6:30 PM)
15-104
To demonstrate how an educational initiative, MS CARES, helped HCPs convert their knowledge gains into practice and increase collaboration with patients through a variety of point-of-care tools.
In 2018, Med learning Group (MLG) launched the CARES Initiative, a large-scale, multi-faceted continuing medical education series in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) that incorporates a variety of live and online educational activities inclusive of 3D/VR animations to engage learners, improve comprehension and facilitate recall.
The educational series includes a variety of tools for participants to use in the practice setting. HCPs can choose a variety of images for a personalized poster to use in practice to enhance collaboration among patients and colleagues. Additional resources designed for providers and patients, such as clinical care toolkits available at the CARES mobile application/website (cares4ms.com), enable users across the country to access information on MS care, including diagnosis, disease management, and treatment options. Participants can also download 3D animations to share with their patients to discuss diagnosis and treatment options and refer patients to the site to access the vetted references, Frequently Asked Q&A, and lifestyle tips.

Pre/posttest data, chart audits conducted in 10-12 institutions, and surveys and interviews with participants who designed posters or downloaded animations examines both educational gains as well as impact on collaboration in care. For example, 82% of respondents have reported that the posters facilitate discussions with patients.  Analysis of baseline data identified gaps in care, particularly regarding use of diagnostic algorithms and tools to assist in the detection of MS, current treatment approaches and investigational therapies, and strategies to encourage engagement and adherence in care. Post-education chart audits and surveys demonstrate both educational gains and practice improvements across these areas.

好色先生al outcomes demonstrate how CARES has created a space for increased collaboration among HCPs and patients working to diagnose and manage MS.
