Cerebrovascular Disease and Interventional Neurology
P4 - Poster Session 4 (5:30 PM-6:30 PM)

Hospital-based stroke register study is the research hot point in the world recently. Increasing prospective consecutive stroke register studies were performed in China and other Asian Countries

This study aimed to compare the current status and quality of hospital-based stroke registry and analyze the clinical features and outcomes of stroke patients in China between other Asian Countries.

Data were identified by electronic searches of Medline, Embass and some Chinese electronic databases from January 2000 to November 2016.A total of 10,460 clinical studies were collected. Two authors independently assessed the compliance of studies according to the the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS), and extracted data from included studies.

A total of 80 articles from 32 stroke registries were included, and the sample size ranged from 1070 to 46108.The 32 registries covered five countries in Asia.As for the type of stroke, ischemic stroke accounts for the main part, ranging from 53.2% to 91.6%.In terms of the subtype, the proportion of LAA in mainland China is higher than that in Taiwan and other Asian countries (45-71.4%vs 27.7- 42%).Only 5 registries reported thrombolysis rates(0.9%-19.3%) in China, which were reported in 8 registries reported in other Asian countries, 1.9% to 63.9%.The fatality rates were reported in 10 registries in China, 1.58% to 26.1%, which were ranging from 3%-26.3% from 10 registries in other Asian countries .
The quality of hospital-based stroke registration studies, and the clinical features and prognosis of stroke patients in China and other Asian countries were analyzed .Chinese patients are less active than in other Asian countries in thrombolysis, but difference in the one-year fatality rates are not significant. Due to the limitations of research methods, datas on the clinical characteristics are unreliable in making any conclusive conclusions. A set of quality criteria to evaluate the stroke registration study and confirm its feasibility is needed.
