Participants should be able to distinguish between hyped, evidenced-based, and theoretically plausible approaches to promoting successful cognitive aging; be familiar with the concept of cognitive reserve and factors that help build or reduce it; understand different processes that underlie age-related changes in intellectual functioning; and have a practical approach to discussing these issues with their patients.
