Participants should understand the complexities in determining the underlying infections etiology of neurologic disorders through the discussion of a common disorder, Bell's palsy, and the risk of developing a demyelinating disorder following vaccination; and learn the pros and cons of current recommendations for the diagnosis and therapy of acute and chronic infections of the nervous system, including the prerequisites for lumbar puncture, steroids in bacterial meningitis and immune-reconstitution syndrome, and chronic antibiotic therapy in post-Lyme disease. The interactive format will highlight the uncertainties and controversial issues in this important realm.
