In this session, we will discuss the role of the diversity officer in academic departments. We will cover how to create the role of diversity officer in departments that don’t have one as well as being effective in this critical position. Areas of conversation will include how to obtain chair support for the diversity officer position and for IDEAS initiatives, branding, marketing, and communications strategies to promote IDEAS work, and IDEAS work as an avenue to academic promotion.
