Learning Objectives The current approach to MS management is effective at controlling relapses and acute lesions but does not always address a key mechanism of disease progression that results in disability accumulation. Clinical and pathological evidence indicates the presence of subtle progressive worsening that is not related to overt relapses and is characterized by smoldering neuroinflammation.

Features a panel of three MS specialists who will discuss disability accumulation in the current era of treatment, the proposed key interaction hubs of the smoldering neuroinflammatory pathway, and the key biomarkers that may help us to track changes in the smoldering pathway. The participants will interact with the presenters to discuss the clinical relevance of smoldering disease biomarkers in the present day as well as implications and expectations for future disease modifying therapies.
