Participants should be able to understand the appropriate seizure types for classic and newer AEDs; know the initial dose, suggested titration, and target dose of the AEDs; learn about drug interactions between AEDs and commonly used comedications; know the most important side effects and safety issues for each AED; learn considerations for AED use across the spectrum of ages and for women of child-bearing potential; and understand the appropriate use of blood level monitoring for each AED.
