Participants should be aware of the various surgical techniques available for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders and understand their possible outcomes and adequately assess the candidacy of patients for these treatments; understand the problems that can arise with deep brain stimulation therapy and how to approach solving them; understand the extent and nature of the controversies and uncertainties that exist in the field; and understand the future of developing experimental cellular and molecular therapies for movement disorders.
