Participants will appreciate the following controversies: whether MS should be treated initially with aggressive induction therapy; whether new oral agents are comparably effective and should be considered 鈥渇irst line鈥 treatments; the risk of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) in patients receiving natalizumab and whether risk can be predicted; whether claims that chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency contributes to MS pathogenesis are supported by recent studies; and whether smoking worsens MS. Participants will have enhanced understanding of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for common and unusual CNS demyelinating diseases.
