Critical Care
Participants should be familiar with the abnormalities of cardiac function that can occur in patients with neurologic disorders including seizures, stroke and traumatic brain injury; recognize and treat iatrogenic movement disorder emergencies such as neuroleptic malignant syndrome, serotonin syndrome, and severe levodopa-induced dyskinesias; be able to identify potentially dangerous headaches and understand how to treat severe intractable headaches; and become able to recognize, evaluate and manage the various types of seizures that are most likely to present in the emergency room or intensive care unit such as intractable status epilepticus, nonconvulsive status epilepticus, and post-anoxic seizures.
