Participants will gain skill in diagnosing and initiating treatment in three important areas: meningitis, encephalitis, and infections in immunosuppressed patients. Emphasis will be given to key points in initial diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute meningitis and encephalitis; and in the diagnosis and management of CNS infections in immunocompromised patients, including patients with AIDS, patients aggressively immunosuppressed for organ or stem cell transplantation, and patients receiving the newer monoclonal immunosuppressive agents.
