Neurorehabilitation, Spinal Cord/Nerve Root Disorders
Participants should be able to describe the unique qualities, experience, and training, combined with evolving cultural circumstances, that have lead to the development of sports neurology as a subspecialty; demonstrate understanding of current concepts and principles (both basic science and clinical) related to the mechanisms, neuropathology, diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of sports concussion; demonstrate understanding of the usefulness and limitations of diagnostic imaging, neuropsychological testing, and other technologies used in the evaluation of sports concussion; serve as a valuable resources to athletes, patients, families, athletic trainers, team physicians, and school or league officials, providing useful advice regarding safe participation in sports and return to play after injury; demonstrate understanding of how to evaluate and treat common neuromuscular and peripheral injuries related to sports participation and performance; and provide useful consultation to patients (and families of patients) with neurological disease regarding exercise, athletic activities, and participation in sports.
