Access to high quality neurologic care is an identified challenge and is a growing issue as the population ages and the incidence of patients with neurologic disorders increases. The AAN executive board has identified in its strategic plan the goal to reduce the US national average wait time to see a neurologist by 10%. One strategy to achieve this goal is to extend access to care via incorporating and maximizing APPs into neurology care teams as APPs entering into the field of neurology is one of the fastest growing specialties for APPs. However, onboarding APPs can place a significant administrative, financial and time burden on many practices to the degree that discourages them from incorporating APPs as a solution to access to care problem. This HUB talk seeks to open a candid dialogue about the challenges of APP onboarding and retention and offer practical solutions to these real-world challenges. With the inclusion of an APP, physician and business/practice manager on the panel, the conversation will be inclusive of all viewpoints and will cover a number of different perspectives related to onboarding.
