Participants should become familiar with the prevalence of white matter disease in the general population of cognitively normal older adults; learn of the consequences of white matter disease on incident cognitive impairment, stroke and death; and learn of the biological mechanisms whereby white matter disease affects cognition and treatment options currently available to reduce the impact of white matter disease on general and cognitive health.
