Participants should be able to recognize the features of narcolepsy that distinguish it from other central disorders of hypersomnolence; be able to recognize the limitations of the multiple sleep latency test, the most commonly employed laboratory measure of sleepiness; and leave with new insights on the etiology of these conditions, as well as understand the directions researchers are taking towards the development of novel therapies.
