Participants should be able to calculate if a managed care contract is profitable; determine whether a new service will be cost-effective or lose money; implement risk/benefit analysis techniques; evaluate the economics of outsourcing (e.g., transcription, billing) versus in-house services; design improved collections procedures and effectively combat insurance denials; utilize financial analysis to determine if technology and other capital investments will provide a return on investment; include time value of money techniques in analyzing investments; consider successful ways to try new ideas without risking financial losses; utilize benchmarking tools and ratios to effectively monitor the practice's financial performance; explain how spreadsheets can be used to forecast future revenues and expenses; apply efficiency re-engineering principles to maximize productivity; and learn how to evaluate and effectively utilize practice management reports.
