Participants should be aware of advances made in the treatment of refractory status epilepticus; potential therapy following cardiac arrest to improve outcome; prognostic indicators for coma following hypoxic-ischemic, hypoglycemic and traumatic brain injury; therapies available for massive hemispheric stroke and its complications; methods to monitor respiratory compromise and modes of ventilator therapy; and strategies to prevent or treat complications following cerebral revascularization, cardiac surgery, and aortic surgery.
