Attendees should have a clear concept of how "social-emotional" skills influence their ability to practice clinical neurology, including:

Physician self-awareness
Physician relationships with colleagues, nurses and other healthcare providers
Physician relationships with patients: (a) convey meaningful information at the right time (especially bad news); (b) listening!!! (c) importance of humor; (d) respect for patients and shared decision making; (e) allow sufficient time to treat patients as individual human beings, not a prototype of a codable disease; (f) significance of understanding the direct/indirect affect of illness on patient/family; (g) professional honesty and how to face uncertainty and mistakes; (h) teach families the 5-step "goodbye"
