Participants should be able to understand integral components of bone health; identify factors that contribute to risk of fracture; appreciate direct impact on bone health of glucocorticosteroid treatment; understand fracture risk in persons with epilepsy and the role of antiepileptic drugs; comprehend that stroke causes increased disability and can lead to increased hip fracture; recognize that persons with Parkinson鈥檚 disease have an elevated fracture risk; understand how to evaluate children with neurological disease so as to sustain good bone development; be aware of instruments available to screen bone health and identify who should be screened; and recognize available treatments for bone disease.
