About UCNS accreditation

The core subspecialty training curriculum for each UCNS-recognized subspecialty is developed by experts from leading institutions across the country who are appointed by the subspecialty’s sponsoring organizations. UCNS-accredited fellowship programs demonstrate their compliance with the curriculum standards through a peer-reviewed process. Graduates of UCNS-accredited programs are eligible to apply for UCNS certification examinations.

UCNS accreditation creates a competitive advantage for your program, demonstrates that it meets or exceeds quality standards, and makes it eligible for UCNS program marketing initiatives. Accreditation also shows residents that your program contains the core subspecialty training curriculum and that you’re committed to continuous improvement.

“UCNS-accredited fellowship programs set themselves apart from the rest,” said UCNS Accreditation Council Chair Katherine Peters, MD, PhD. “They show that they have an excellent, expert-developed curriculum, they’re committed to continuous improvement meeting peer-reviewed requirements, and they demonstrate that they meet or exceed quality standards.”
