UCNS diplomates: Complete your C-cert requirements by December deadline

(UCNS) is an independent nonprofit established by the AAN and four other leading neurology organizations. As the accrediting and certifying body for emerging neurological subspecialties, the UCNS provides a means of formal recognition and improved training standards for subspecialties.
The 2025 deadline for UCNS continuous certification (C-cert) is December 31. This certification is meant to provide UCNS diplomates with a convenient, relevant way to meet the needs of lifelong learning and self-assessment.
To maintain their certification, diplomates must complete C-cert requirements every year. If you’re a new diplomate, you begin the C-cert process the year after your initial certification exam.
UCNS C-cert requirements
Annual C-cert requirements include:
- Reading the annual designated
- Paying the $175 C-cert administrative fee, billed annually in April/May
- Completing and passing the annual
These requirements must be completed each year by the December 31 deadline.
Diplomates need to achieve a minimum passing score of 80% on the quiz, which also includes space to claim CME or self-assessment credit hours. CME credit confirmation is emailed to diplomates within 24 hours of passing the quiz and is also posted in the “Communications” tab in your UCNS profile.
Certification status is updated annually and can be verified in UCNS’s . Diplomates who do not meet all C-cert requirements for two consecutive years are no longer considered certified and must take and pass the initial certification examination to regain certification.
