Webinar series explores neurodiversity, health care disparities, and more

March 5, 2026

Are you interested in learning more about health care equity in neurology? The Health Care Equity Webinar Series dives into several key topics in neurological practice, including neurodiversity, LGBTQ+ health, and health care disparities.

All four webinars are free for AAN members, and most are eligible for CME.

“The Health Care Equity Webinar series is an incredible resource for all neurologists and neuroscientists, from trainees to senior clinicians,” said Nicole Rosendale, MD, FAAN, chair of the AAN Health Care Equity Subcommittee. “We've had sessions highlighting the most recent advances in health equity research and important clinical care practices for communities that experience health disparities, including LGBTQ+ people and people with disabilities. These are communities that neurologists are seeing in their practices, regardless of specialty or geographic location.”

Presented by Dr. Rosendale, this webinar covers LGBTQ+ terminology and health disparities, strategies to collect data on sexual orientation and gender identity in clinical settings, the role of LGBTQ+ identity specific to neurological illness, and ways to create a welcoming and inclusive clinic environment.

(Does not offer CME)
This webinar focuses on ways to engage colleagues and institutions in equity efforts, particularly when facing resistance or discomfort. Speakers share strategies for opening meaningful conversations, navigating institutional or structural barriers, and encouraging participation in efforts that challenge the status quo. This is a practical tool to support culture change in institutions and communities.

. The AAN is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical 好色先生 (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

“Empowering clinicians with knowledge of best practices equips them with the tools to work toward equitable brain health for all,” Rosendale said. “I'm also very excited for the future of the webinar series. We have a group of neurologists with diverse expertise who are thinking critically about the essential topics within health care equity and putting together a thoughtful, redesigned series, all with CME, which will provide the average neurologist with a comprehensive view of the current state of science and the future of health care equity in neurology.”
