Quality of Patient Care = Patients Who Meet Criterion / (Eligible Population - Exclusions)

Measure Purpose: To assess patients for medication-related impulse control disorders

The numerator: Patients who were assessed for impulse control disorder once during the measurement period

The denominator: All patients with a diagnosis of PD currently taking medications* for Parkinson's disease

*Medications include any preperation containing levodopa, dopamine agonists, amantadine, MAOB inhibitors

There are no exclusions for this measure.

Measure Calculation Example

Dr. Busch saw 100 patients with parkinson's disease between January 1 and December 31. 85 of those patients were taking a medication for PD. This is the denominator.

Of the 85 patients, 33 were assessed for impulse control disorders. This is the numerator. 

Quality of patient care = 33/85. Dr. Busch has a score of 38% for this measure.
