Global Scholars and Future Ambassadors Scholarship to the Annual Meeting

About

The Global Scholars and Future Ambassadors Scholarship to the Annual Meeting is a prestigious award given to early career neurologists and neurology trainees outside the US. Awardees will be selected based on their leadership potential and a strong commitment to academic, clinical, or advocacy advancement in their home regions. 

The award aims to ensure lasting AAN engagement beyond the Annual Meeting through alumni networks, mentorship, and visible contributions to the global neurology community.

Timeline

  • Applications open: August 19, 2025
  • Applications close: October 21, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CT

Benefits

Recipients will receive:  

  • Meeting registration
  • Airfare and hotel (up to six nights), arranged by AAN travel service, to attend the 2026 AAN Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL
  • Customized training and networking events offered virtually prior to the Annual Meeting and onsite during the conference, designed to build skills and community among scholars 

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a member of the AAN
    • Membership fees vary based on your qualifying member type and country location. View membership rates. Reduced dues rates for early-career physicians (applicable only to members completing post-graduate year studies) and individuals in lower middle- and low-income countries are available as applicable.
  • Physicians/ clinicians who hold an MD, DO, MBBS/MBChB, and/or are currently enrolled in a postgraduate clinical neurology training program (residency or subspecialty fellowship)
  • Early career neurologists (5 years or less from completing postgraduate clinical neurology training)
  • Age 40 or under
  • Must reside/practice in a country outside the United States
  • Applicant must submit an abstract to the Annual Meeting
  • Applicant must NOT have previously received the International Scholarship to the Annual Meeting
  • Applicant must be available to attend required virtual and onsite training and networking sessions
  • Applicant must express an interest in active involvement in the AAN and must include a brief plan to disseminate research and/or AAN-related knowledge findings locally after the Annual Meeting in their application

Application requirements

Completed applications must include the following:  

  • Completed online application form with responses to required questions
  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Letter of recommendation/support from training program director, research supervisor, head of hospital, chair of clinical department, or mentor (single-spaced, one-page, on official letterhead)

Please note: Applicant may not receive or accept more than one AAN scholarship to the Annual Meeting. Please apply for the scholarship that best fits your interests.
