This award encourages historical research using the AAN Rare Books Collection at the Bernard Becker Medical Library at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. The award—named in recognition of the neurologist's generous donation to the collection—provides up to $1,200 for research expenses.

Eligibility
- Must submit a proposal for neurological history research.
- Must be a current AAN member.
Applicants should submit one complete set of the following materials:
- Completed application form
- Current curriculum vitae
- Letter summarizing the focus of the applicant's research program, the independent contributions made by the applicant in the field of the history of neurology, and reasons why the applicant should receive the award.
