Accepted abstracts must be presented in person at the Annual Meeting, and meeting registration is required. An individual can present a maximum of five abstracts, and no more than two abstracts in platform sessions. The AAN's Science Committee makes the final decision of approval, abstract assignment, and presentation type based on scientific merit and program considerations. Authors can designate a new presenter by emailing Katie Anderson.
The time period to request changes or edits to abstract submissions has passed. Presenters can provide additional updates as part of their presentation at the Annual Meeting.
Withdrawal requests are permitted until April 10, 2026. However, depending on when the request is made, not all withdrawals may be reflected in print or online publications.
Withdrawal requests should be submitted to Katie Anderson and include the abstract title, ID number, presenter’s name, and reason for withdrawal. Authors not notifying AAN staff of withdrawal, notifying AAN staff after April 10, 2026, or not providing a sufficient reason for withdrawal will be subject to sanctions.
The Late-breaking Science program highlights the most current research being done in the field of neurology. Abstracts qualify for Late-breaking Science by having key aspects of research conducted after the October abstract submission deadline. These abstracts must be new and of sufficient scientific importance to warrant expedited presentation and publication, and contain timely, significant, and innovative content. Case reports are not acceptable submissions and will not be considered.
Late-breaking Science Abstract guidelines
Late-breaking Science submissions must not have been presented or published elsewhere before the 2026 Annual Meeting. No data or results can be shared at any time before the abstract presentation at the Annual Meeting, should the abstract be accepted. If any part of your data or results will be shared elsewhere, your abstract will be ineligible for the Late-breaking submission period.
Notification emails were sent to the first author on the abstract submission during the first week of March. Contact Katie Anderson if you have not received your notification email.
The embargoes for late-breaking science abstracts correspond with their presentation times at the AAN Annual Meeting. Late-breaking science abstracts will be posted online when their embargoes lift.
Email Katie Anderson with any Late-breaking Science abstract questions.
