"Serving as chief resident, after being selected by both faculty and peers, has been an honor and privilege. This past year gave me the opportunity to put leadership skills into practice while advocating for the education and well-being of my peers at a higher level.
The role demands time, energy, and dedication, but it also provides a meaningful chance to leave a lasting, positive impact on future residents. By navigating challenges and celebrating successes with your co-chiefs, you will develop lasting bonds with them, which has been a special part of my experience.
If you're interested in growing as a leader, enhancing the educational experience for fellow residents, and ultimately improving the care we provide to our patients, the role of chief resident offers a unique and rewarding way to develop those skills while giving back to the neurology community."
- Jose Eduardo Espindola Lima, MD, Chief Resident, Stanford University
