It’s important to distinguish diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace from health equity in patient care. A diversity officer will focus on DEI within the department, but health equity work often constitutes its own job. When assigning these responsibilities, take care to recognize the breadth of work involved in these separate but complementary goals.
